A morning well spent

It's been a while since we ladies had what I call a show-and-tell. So when someone suggested morning tea today, eight of us came together, bearing empty stomachs (lol) - and all our handiwork!

Now, when women gather, they are never short of food, agree? Look at this yummy spread below... Thanks a bunch to our generous hostess :-)

Right, so much for the appetizer (lOl!!!), back to the main agenda... Here is a friend's first. She did a replica of my first project, but with different fabrics of course. Turned out pretty cool, eh?
Of course some of us are already onto our second or third project - and one has even lost-count!!! Look at this lady's beauty of "darks and lights". She's making a queen-size bed spread out of this. It's not finished so I will take more pictures of it only when she's done. Besides patchwork, we are also diversifying :-) Some of us are going to pick up the dying craft of tatting. Note I used "dying"? We had to scour the whole of Alor Star for the shuttle and thread and only finally found some left over stock in an old dingy shop - the price was hardly yester-years' though! Anyway, I've done crochet and knitting before but never tatting. Somehow, I've always had this picture of myself with two left hands! Worse, when I picked up the shuttle and thread, I was all toes!!! The shuttle was dropping all over, the thread got tangled up every now and then, the knots wouldn't fall into place... However, I will persevere. So watch out for my tatting project :-)

Pleasant surprise

Just finished piecing up all my blocks and added the borders to this crazy patchwork project. I finally went for one with green in it. I like how it brings contrast to an otherwise very boring combination of colours. Although I started out with the black rose print as my central theme, by the end, the magenta had taken over and dominated the project. That's one of the reasons why I enjoy crazy patchworking. There is always this element of uncertainty... and ultimately pleasant surprise :-) Well, until my next crazy spell, thank you all for dropping by.

Incorrigible me

I know what you are thinking! "This is one depraved lady!" Well, I can't help it cos this Anna Sui wallet was also begging me to take her home!!! Moreover, I am no longer in possession of yesterday's buy (gifted away) so no guilty feelings here whatsoever :-)

... front view and back ...

Not as pretty as her sister (the black one) but this nifty wallet would actually serve me better - it has more space for my cards. There's also a zippy compartment inside for loose change. And the best part is that I got it for very much less than what I paid for yesterday :-)

Sigh... What a nice day! Hope you had an equally great one :-)

Roses make my day

If there's anything that will make me go mushy, it has to be rose prints. So how could I resist this delightfully gorgeous clutch? I just had to take it home :-)

Look, it comes with the ANNA SUI logo too... although I must admit not having seen this line anywhere in their boutiques... which means this has to be a fake! But I'm not too bothered - I did not pay a bomb for it. Remember? It was the roses I fell for. I love the vintage look - thoroughly Victorian... absolutely my cup of tea :-) Now you know how easy it is to win me over to anything? LOL!!! More pix of my beauty.....

Edited: Look! I realized I have a pair of shoes in my cupboard of a somewhat similar print. It's a bit worn but it's still a match! This is so COOOOOL (LOL)!!!!

Seeing stars!

Ta Dah! Yes! 24 blocks of my crazy (?) project completed!!! Progress has been slow but I'm working on it. In fact, I have been sewing a little this morning but am now taking a break. Time to do some reflection, too. OK, what do I think of this project? Frankly, I'm not too enamored by the turnout :-( Something's not quite right with the colours... maybe I should have used a little ash green - the colour of the leaves in the rose print - to bring out some contrast. Well, too late to do anything now... or is it? What if I put it at the border? What do you think of one of these combinations? I kinda like the first and the last. The second one on the left is also nice (but without the green I like)...

Hmmmm... looks like I'll have to chew over this... Wish me luck :-)

She's done it!

The weekend has come and gone and I'm so sorry I've no updates of my project as promised. With Sports Day round the corner, I've had to go back to school almost every other evening and I just was not able to squeeze in any sewing time. However, here's something equally exciting - my friend's completed crazy patchwork quilt. Isn't it just awesome? I can't wait to get my hands on mine!!!

I must be crazy!

Busy as I was last week, I couldn't help but start another crazy patchwork blanket. The thought of the end result, the expectation and the anticipation can be quite intoxicating! What do you think of my choice of fabrics?

See the combination below? Each finished block measures 8" by 8". I can't wait to start the piecing. This time, I decided "no sashing"... so I'll need to do a 6 by 8 at least which works out to 48 blocks (previous project was a 5 by 7).

Right, that's about it for now. Hope to have some updates by the weekend... and thanks for dropping by :-)
